Workshops guide high school seniors through financial aid applications
February 23, 2012, The Desert Sun - Workshops were held throughout the Coachella Valley on Wednesday to help high school seniors apply for financial aid for college. The seven workshops, organized by CVE, offered assistance in filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Last year, about 47 percent of Coachella Valley high school seniors completed the applications. CVEP wants to increase that number by 10 percentage points this year.

Executives of CareFusion met with employees Wednesday to tell them the company is keeping its factory in Palm Springs and has dropped plans to move the operation to Minnesota. The decision by the San Diego-based company is a big win for city officials and local economic development experts who had worked for months to devise an array of incentives to keep the plant in Palm Springs.

Experts: Golf is in crisis despite signs of rebound

Hotel occupancy rates are up.
