Economic development leaders from across the globe will convene next week in Tucson, Arizona for the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) 2023 Leadership Summit. The sold-out conference will feature three distinct learning tracks for leaders to choose from:

  • The Intersection of Innovation and Economic Development:
Strategies for entrepreneurial and workforce development that will help leaders create an inclusive and diverse economy.
  • Enhancing Your Brand for Investment, Capital, and Talent:
Discover methods for leveraging community and regional assets to attract and retain industry in today’s landscape.
  • Diversifying and Growing Your Local Economy for Resiliency:
Explore strategies for promoting equitable economic recovery in communities.

As part of the Diversifying and Growing Your Local Economy for Resiliency track, CVEP’s vice president of innovation, Laura James, will be a featured panelist. In addition to James, the Hiring Our Heroes panel will also feature economic development leaders from Michigan, Texas, and Arizona; panelists will share information designed to change and improve civilian perception of veterans’ skills and abilities. James will draw in part on her years of experience working with veteran-led iHub companies including Moducan (Palm Springs iHub Accelerator Campus), Whatz2Eat (Palm Desert iHub), and EcoHelicopters (Palm Springs iHub) as well as her experience working and volunteering with military families stationed at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, CA.
