SUN HEATING TEC Inc. (SHT), a Chinese renewable energy company that pioneered solar hot water collectors, has joined the Palm Springs iHub and will relocate a robotic assembly line to the Coachella Valley, the company founder, Jeff Cheng, announced today at the board meeting of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, which manages the Palm Springs iHub.

Mr. Cheng learned about the Palm Springs iHub when SHT began supplying tube assemblies for solar thermal systems to SunUp Energy, another company in the iHub incubator program. SHT has taken office space in the iHub and will occupy 5,000 square feet in the Accelerator Campus, where it will create at least 15 medium- to high-skilled jobs within two years. These employees will be involved in robot maintenance and programming, assembly, sales, and fulfillment.

“Sun Heating Tec is an excellent fit for the Palm Springs iHub and Accelerator Campus,” says Joe Wallace, CVEP interim CEO and chief innovation officer. “Their products are already being used by an iHub company that knows the markets they want to enter. The iHub program will help Sun Heating Tec with risk mitigation, offering start-up space with standard office equipment, access to a Foreign Trade Zone for exports, and a low-risk pilot production location. We’ll also help them establish credit and assimilate into the U.S.-style business culture.”

“Sun Heating Tec will spare no effort in providing the best clean energy products to installers, contractors, project developers, dealers, and distributors worldwide so as to help households and businesses reduce their energy bills and protect the environment,” Cheng said in a prepared statement. “The Palm Springs iHub enables us to enter the U.S. market with a low level of risk and a high level of support.” Visit www.sunheatingtec.com for more information.
