 Coachella Valley Economic Recovery Team

Riverside County and Local Community Organizations Band Together to Establish the Coachella Valley Economic Recovery Team

Riverside County has banded together with the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC), the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP), and the U.S. Small Business Association in the Coachella Valley (SBA) to form the Coachella Valley Economic Recovery Team (CVERT).

The purpose of this committee is to assist economic development leaders across the valley with latest information, access to shared resources, and best practices with the goal of streamlining communication to valley professionals and impacted business verticals to expedite our work on economic recovery.

“This strong team of local organizations has been formed to help address the long-term effects of the COVID-19 virus on the Coachella Valley economy,” said Joe Wallace, CEO/President of CVEP. Joshua Bonner, CEO/President of the GCVCC, added “All of the cities in the valley are also participating in an attempt to focus, and not duplicate, efforts.”

These lead organizations will take an active role to assist in minimizing economic impacts to the Coachella Valley:

The role of the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau is to be a resource for the local hospitality industry, leading the recovery of our tourism economy by developing and executing a marketing strategy that will resonate with the changing travel landscape.

The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce is a regional chamber focused on economic development and advocacy for our region’s small business community. Our focus for this committee will be serving as a conduit for the free flow of information between small business owners and the committee. Further, we will look to translate the efforts of the committee into policy by working with local city, county, state and federal elected leaders through our advocacy efforts.

For the duration of this crisis, CVEP will be focused on helping businesses navigate the complex array of available resources as stimulus bills are passed. Meanwhile, we continue our work developing a resilient and diverse economy in Greater Palm Springs. This is, and always has been, CVEP’s mission. We never lose sight of the fact that a diverse economy, with a wide range of well-paying jobs available in a variety of industries, is better equipped to weather a storm like the one we now face.
