Exciting news at CVEP: CEO Joe Wallace was notified on April 12 that his first book Living Outside the Box had been approved for publication.
Living Outside the Box is a call to action beyond the old cliché of thinking outside the box. The difference between the two is that merely thinking outside the box typically ends without taking any action. Changing the world takes fearless actions: this book is the guide to how to live your life and change the world for the better. In the first chapter, “When the Earth was Flat,” Wallace reviews the evolution of accepted knowledge, setting the stage for deliberate living with a high level of positive impact.
Wallace’s book is a field guide for people who aspire to be impactful. Covering such topics as eternal awareness; visioning; artfully exposing shortcomings; recognizing and connecting important things; and executing plans with action, he shows readers how courage and action combine to create change.
From Vision to Implementation
Those interested in how these things can come together on a local level will enjoy the chapter on the establishment of innovation hubs in the Greater Palm Springs region. These innovation hubs are building an ecosystem by attracting and putting together a variety of technology businesses. Wallace also describes how CVEP has become the keeper of the long-term regional vision, highlighting the actions necessary to turn vision into reality. Finally, in the last chapter, Wallace demonstrates what outside-the-box living can really look like. To do so, he shares the impacts of six people who have literally changed the world by living outside the box.
Regional economic development – much like building a business – requires bringing people together around a common vision. Wallace’s book will be of interest to those who wish to develop the boldness to take decisive action.
A portion of all sales will go to CVEP.
